Cranfield University

Cranfield is an exclusively postgraduate university, creating leaders in technology and management. We work closely with business, industry and government across the world. Through our industry partnerships, applied research projects and our executive education and professional development programmes, we work with over 1,500 companies and organisations. We are focused on the specialist themes of aerospace, defence and security, energy and power, environment and agrifood, manufacturing, transport systems, and water. The Cranfield School of Management is a world leader in management education and research.




Beta Bugs

Beta Bugs makes better insects. Specifically, we are insect breeders. We create high performance insect genetics for the insects as protein sector using proven biotech and breeding strategies. Our current focus is on the Black Soldier Fly and it’s use as an animal feed, with a mission of doubling this industry’s productivity, enabling it to compete on price point with commoditised feed ingredients. In the long-term we will create the breeds of insects that will feed, fuel and supply the world’s growing livestock and human population.

Angus Growers Ltd is a soft fruit producer organisation based in Arbroath on the East Coast of Scotland, in the heart of the traditional Scottish berry growing area. The company is owned and managed by 18 growers, the majority in Angus, Perthshire and Fife, who grow a variety of fruits and other crops; we market their strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and cherries. They specialise in producing fresh fruit for the major supermarkets, shops, restaurants and food and drinks manufacturers.

Farming Online 

The team at Farming Online create decision support systems, using ML techniques and smart phone technology, for actors in the food supply chain. They deliver for key international companies and work alongside research stations in the UK & abroad.  Farming Online were finalists for a USAID Data-Driven Farming award for their work on using satellite imagery to support small holders in Nepal.  They are part of AI for Earth – a community using ML techniques designed to solve environmental challenges.
