It is one of four of Agri-EPI Centre’s ground-breaking facilities and supports the Centre’s mission to help support innovative ideas which will help farmers and business owners become more profitable and sustainable.
Rentable spaces and equipment
There are several workshop, conference and meeting spaces available at the Hub for rent, as well as light filled lower and upper atriums, perfect for exhibitions and networking events.

A mix of half and full height bays with an overhead crane, prototype equipment and basic fabrication are also available for rent and are tools for those looking to disrupt the agricultural and food sector with new innovative ideas.

SIFT-MS

Accuracy, simplicity and speed – the next generation in volatile organic compound analysis for agri-food and farming

Unique to the UK and part of our Northern Agri-Tech Innovation Hub, learn more about SIFT-MS. Reducing waste, saving time and costs, Selected Ion Flow-tube Mass Spectrometry, or SIFT-MS, delivers rapid laboratory-grade volatile organic compound (VOC) chemical analysis across animal, crop, soil and the full spectrum of agri-food samples.

Hyperspectral Imaging Camera

A novel technology, hyperspectral imaging is one of the most powerful and rapidly growing methods of non-destructive food quality analysis and control.

The technology can provide key data that can be practically applied for food quality assessment. As such, there is enormous potential for the use of this equipment for seeds and crops, fresh produce, meat and fish at various stages of growth and production.

Buchi NIR

Supporting routine analysis of samples for the food and feed industry in meat, dairy and grains. Buchi NIR is an effective tool in the analysis of typical parameters including, moisture, protein, fat, connective tissue, ash, starch, lactose and gluten. From supporting the optimization of formulation during production to inspecting packaged goods; identifying ideal blending of malt to relevant ingredients in finished products. Applications include calibrations of raw meat, poultry, pig and fish feed, wet pet food, cereals and ground wheat flour.

Texture Analyser

With a focus on extending the shelf-life of our seasonal produce and also on the quality and presentation of meat and fish products, texture analysis is an important element of the slaughter, harvest, storage, packaging and presentation of our food to the consumer.

Applications include, analysis of meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, salmon and trout.
